Kristian Donchev and Martina Kondaklieva became Bulgaria’s first world champions in dancesport after winning gold at the World Junior II Ten Dance Championship in Burgas, on the Black Sea.
The Bulgarian pair finished first among 25 couples representing 25 countries.
Burgas is hosting the World Championship alongside the WDSF European Under-21 Standard Championship, the first time the two competitions have been held together as part of the same event.
Bulgaria also won a medal in the European competition, where Artur Vlasenko and Ivelina Karcheva took bronze. A total of 39 couples from 19 countries competed in the category.
The competitions in Burgas continue on Sunday with an international dancesport tournament. More than 400 participants have registered across the two competition days.
The event is organized by Burgas Dance Sport Club and Burgas 1975 Dance Sport Club with the support of Burgas Municipality.
