Two people were killed and two others were injured in a Friday morning attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odesa, Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper said on his Telegram channel.
“A 40-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man were killed at the scene in the attack. The injured are two men, aged 18 and 32, one of whom is in serious condition in hospital,” the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office said on its Telegram channel.
“The massive attack damaged a postal terminal, warehouses and private residential buildings. Fires broke out following the strikes, while the work of rescuers was significantly hampered by repeated air raid alerts. The fires have now been extinguished. More than 140 rescuers from the State Emergency Service in Odesa Region took part in dealing with the aftermath of the enemy attack,” the State Emergency Service in Odesa Region said on its Facebook page.
More than 150,000 Bulgarians live in Odesa Region, making them the third-largest ethnic group there, according to Ukraine’s latest official census. Some 50,000 to 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest concentrations of the Bulgarian community are in Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
