Presidential candidate Iliana Iotova said the belief that has always guided her work is “to seek what brings us together, rather than what divides us. I am a person of dialogue, reason, wisdom and consensus”. She was speaking at an election campaign meeting in Lovech, accompanied by vice-presidential candidate Kiril Valchev. Iotova added that politics is the craft of doing good, but also the art of hearing what people tell you. “When you learn to hear, you can accept different views, ideas and proposals, and always learn something. The best solutions can be reached through dialogue and discussion,” she said.
Valchev said their goal was consensus, restoring statehood, as well as encouraging Bulgarians abroad to return. “We must make sure that our children are proud to be Bulgarian,” he said, adding that they also had an idea to revive the discussion on a Bulgarian Language Act.
“We want to keep our children in Bulgaria by creating conditions that make them want to work, study and build their future here, start families and have children. We want them to have their lives in their own hands and shape their own destiny, while Bulgaria moves forward. This is our message, and not just for this campaign. It has always been part of my work,” Iotova added.
Iotova and Valchev visited the Sts Cyril and Methodius Cathedral. They were welcomed by Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovech, who presented Iotova with an icon of Jesus Christ.
