The Environment and Water Ministry is preparing for Bulgaria’s participation in the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), to be held from November 9 to 20, 2026, in Antalya, Tуrkiye, the press centre of the Ministry said on Wednesday. Bulgaria will participate with an official delegation and a national pavilion.
COP31 will focus on accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement and turning international commitments into concrete action.
Bulgaria’s national pavilion in the Blue Zone of the conference will provide an opportunity to present Bulgarian climate change policies, initiatives and good practices, as well as to organise thematic events and meetings with representatives of institutions, international organisations, academia, business and other stakeholders. The organisation and programme of activities at the Bulgarian pavilion are currently being prepared by the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.
The conference will be organised in two main zones. The Blue Zone is the official zone of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Access to it is intended for accredited participants, and it will host official negotiations, plenary sessions, meetings of the subsidiary bodies, official side events and activities at national pavilions.
The Green Zone is a space organised by the host country that will provide opportunities for broader participation in events surrounding COP31. It is intended for institutions, representatives of the scientific and academic communities, business, civil society, non-governmental organisations, young people and the general public.
Last year’s UN Climate Change Conference was held in the Brazilian city of Belem. At the time, BTA created a special section dedicated to the event, featuring reports, analyses and comments from international media, as well as original articles by the agency’s journalists.
