The Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered Alexander Garibov as the vice-presidential candidate running with presidential candidate Alexander Tomov, the CEC said on Thursday The nomination was submitted by Bulgarian Social Democracy – EuroLeft, which is nominating those candidates for the presidential election on October 25.
The commission said it would register the ticket while a verification procedure remains pending due to the change of vice-presidential candidate.
Earlier in the day, the CEC declared invalid the registration of vice-presidential candidate Sergey Indzhov, who was to run on the ticket with Tomov. The commission’s decision states that Indzhov acquired Soviet citizenship by birth and therefore does not meet the legal requirement that a person eligible for election as president or vice-president must be a Bulgarian citizen by birth and hold no other citizenship.
