An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission led by Fabian Bornhorst will visit Sofia from September 28 to October 2, Carlos Mulas-Granados, the IMF’s Regional Representative for Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, said, according to the Fund’s press office.
During their stay in Bulgaria, the IMF team will hold meetings with government officials, central bank representatives, private-sector representatives, and other stakeholders. The discussions will focus on current economic and financial developments in the country.
The visit is part of the IMF’s regular engagement with its member countries through monitoring and dialogue.
The next Article IV consultation for Bulgaria is expected to take place in early 2027, the IMF said.
The previous regular IMF mission to Bulgaria took place from September 10 to 23, 2025, as part of the Article IV consultation.
