Regarding the tax law amendments proposed by the Government, Democratic Bulgaria (DB) see “a jumble of unrelated proposals that have no common plan to reduce the deficit,” DB MP Martin Dimitrov said at a news conference in Parliament on Thursday.
Progressive Bulgaria, through its high deficit, continues to drive up prices in Bulgaria, Dimitrov added. “We will demand the full EUR 85,000 threshold for mandatory VAT registration, and we will not give up until this happens. This is a national goal of ours and we are continuing the petition we are conducting,” Dimitrov said.
“The governing coalition’s plans contain no target for high economic growth. Without faster development, incomes cannot grow faster and more adequately to meet people’s expectations,” Dimitrov said. In his words, Progressive Bulgaria is continuing to fuel inflation through the fast-credit law, by allowing fuel exports, and through the huge budget deficit, and this must be stopped with next year’s budget.
Regarding the Gambling Act, DB Deputy Floor Leader Bozhidar Bozhanov said that the governing majority had effectively adopted his coalition’s bill, but there were some omissions in the definitions contained in the legislation. “Our job will be to monitor whether it is adopted in the right form, so that no loopholes are left for gambling advertising,” he said.
“At a time of unprecedented fuel prices, such as we have never seen before, the Government decided to raise the excise duty on electric cars with more than 340 horsepower. We want this to be scrapped,” DB MP Yordan Ivanov said. “The State should encourage the purchase of electric cars at these fuel prices, because with them you can travel 100 km for EUR 1.50,” Ivanov added. According to him, high fuel prices are one of the reasons for the increase in the purchase of electric cars.
