In August 2026, the price of fuels and lubricants for personal transport in the EU increased by 23.8% compared with August 2025, Eurostat reported on Tuesday. This followed year-on-year increases of 13.7% in June and 16.9% in July. The highest increases were recorded in Bulgaria with 34.5%.
Bulgaria was followed by Lithuania with 28.8%, Finland with 27.6%, Germany with 27.5%, and France with 27.4%. The lowest increases were recorded in Hungary with 1.3%, Sweden with 6.1%, and Ireland with 11.7%.
On a monthly basis, in August 2026, EU consumers saw diesel prices increase by 8.3% and petrol by 3.3%, compared with the previous month. In July 2026, diesel prices increased by 4.3%, and petrol by 4.7% relative to June 2026.
