Vazrazhdane party nominated its leader, Kostadin Kostadinov, as presidential candidate and MEP Petar Volgin as his running mate on Tuesday. The announcement was made here during the commemorations of the anniversary Bulgaria’s Independence Day.
Kostadinov stated that the Bulgarian people want independence, prosperity, unity, progress in education and science, as well as a strong State. He emphasized that this can be achieved by people who think independently and have no qualms about defending the Bulgarian national interest.
The leader of Vazrazhdane said that all mantras about Euro-Atlantic transition and Euro-Atlantic values, the European path and the choice of civilisation must be forgotten, because “Bulgaria’s choice of civilisation was made nearly 14 centuries ago, and Bulgaria is a co-founder of European civilisation, being the oldest nation state”. He added that the crucial question is what Bulgaria’s next collective goal will be. He emphasized that direct democracy must be strengthened, and that the future presidential pair must become genuine figures who act as unifiers who serve the public.
