The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) press club in Targovishte hosts a discussion on foster care today, September 21. The meeting will be broadcast live on the BTA website. The discussion is part of the joint initiative of BTA and the Social Assistance Agency, “Foster Me”.
Through a series of meetings at BTA press clubs across the country, the initiative aims to raise awareness of foster care, give a voice to people who have already chosen this cause, and encourage more families to learn how they can help.
Monday’s discussion will be attended by Targovishte Deputy Mayor for Education, Healthcare and Social Activities Syuzan Aliosmanova, Regional Social Assistance Directorate acting Director Ivelina Ivanova, the head of the Regional Foster Care Team, Yonita Yordanova, and social worker Dimka Raykova.
A BTA video report will be presented during the event, telling the story of two women from Targovishte who have devoted themselves to the cause of becoming foster mothers.
The “Foster Me” initiative is part of the project “Building the capacity of Social Assistance Agency staff in connection with the modernization of social protection systems” – Component 1, which focuses on developing foster care in Bulgaria and increasing the capacity of those involved in it, including social workers, municipal employees, foster parents and others. The project is funded under the Human Resources Development Programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.
