Bulgaria’s economy grew by 0.6 per cent in the second quarter of the year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a flash estimate on August 14. In real terms, gross domestic product (GDP) in Bulgaria in April-June was 29.68 billion euro.
Year-on-year, the economic growth in the second quarter was 2.7 per cent. NSI is due to announce preliminary growth figures for the quarter on September 7.
The flash estimate’s seasonally-adjusted data showed domestic consumption increase by 1.6 per cent during the second quarter, and it was 7.6 per cent higher on an annual basis. Gross fixed capital formation rose by 1.8 per cent in April-June, and was eight per cent higher compared to the second quarter of 2025.
Exports rose by 3.1 per cent compared to the first quarter of the year, but were 2.8 per cent lower compared to the second quarter of last year, while imports shrank by three per cent on a quarterly basis and were up 6.9 per cent year-on-year.
The country recorded a trade deficit of 1.15 billion euro in the quarter, the equivalent of 3.9 per cent of GDP, NSI said.
