CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale tore into a list of President Donald Trump’s supposed “accomplishments” touted in the White House’s official app, pointing out that multiple were false.
On Monday, the White House once again promoted its app, which launched in March, writing on X, “Get real-time updates and live events streamed DIRECTLY to your phone. No noise. Just the news that matters most – straight from the Trump Administration.”
Also on Monday — seemingly prompting the Trump administration to tout its own live coverage — the five television networks that make up the White House press pool joined forces to effectively suspend pool coverage of the president in response to his ban of CNN, MS NOW, and Politico.
The three targeted networks have since teamed up to file a federal lawsuit.
“Just checked out this White House app,” wrote Dale on X. “Under ‘accomplishments,’ it lists…”
1) Gas prices from seven months ago, before the Iran war (they’re now more than $1.50 per gallon higher — $4.48, per AAA)
2) The inflation rate from seven months ago, before the Iran war (the most recent rate, for August, was a full percentage point higher, 3.4%)
3) GDP growth from three quarters ago (the most recent available quarter, Q2 2026, was nearly three points lower, 1.5%)
“In summary, it may possibly be helpful to consume news from news outlets,” his post concluded.
With CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox News, and CNN withholding coverage, Trump was mocked online Monday after Marine One completely drowned out his remarks as he unveiled a new helipad at the White House.
Even right-wing outlet Newsmax had to dip out of its attempt at covering the event, with host Bianca de la Garza noting that “there’s no microphone because the pool cameras aren’t there,” and later adding, “This is one example of [Trump’s ban] backfiring just a little bit.”
