Mehdi Hasan blasted Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) as a “racist bigot” on Piers Morgan Uncensored Thursday.
The pair were debating radical Islam when Mace said, “I’ve seen what they’ve done in foreign countries when a woman shows her hair being stoned to death, being put to death. That’s not the kind of ideology that I want to see here grow in the United States.”
Morgan offered Hasan the opportunity to respond.
“People like Ted Cruz and Nancy Mace” are responsible for “dangerous” rhetoric that pervades the Republican Party, he answered.
Hasan continued:
We know it’s dangerous. We know that if you say it about another minority, it’s dangerous. You wouldn’t say that Jews should be banned from public office. And it’s interesting that the congresswoman started her comment saying she’s afraid of radical Islam. Lots of people are afraid of radical Islam. I’m afraid of radical Islam. I don’t want to be killed by a Muslim terrorist like anyone else. But that’s not what she said. She spent the last few weeks, just the last few weeks, forget the last few years, attacking Muslims in general. Right? She has said that no Muslim American should hold public office in this country.
He also asked whether Dr. Oz should be allowed to head Medicaid and Medicare under President Donald Trump because he’s Muslim.
“She said that not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslim. She tweeted that. That’s not true,” Hasan added.
He said:
Obviously, the people in the IRA would be shocked to hear that, the Hindus and the Tamil Tigers, the Jewish settlers on the West Bank, the Christian domestic terrorists, according to the FBI, who attacked the Capitol on January 6. The idea that only Muslims are terrorists is an absurd statement as well. And the worst of all is, back in I think it was in June, the congressman tweeted, ‘I stand with Dasha. Dasha Kilpatrick, the woman in Texas who went into a Texas grocery store, stopped two Muslim American women doing their shopping and started shouting at them, telling them to get out of the country. They don’t belong here. They should go back to their Islamic country. They’re not welcome in Christian America.
“Nancy Mace tweeted, ‘I stand with Dasha,’ which makes her a racist bigot,” Hasan concluded.
