Tucker Carlson claimed Israelis need to “repent” in the “same way” as Nazi Germany during a conversation with commentator Emily Jashinsky.
Carlson, the former Fox News personality and current host of The Tucker Carlson Show, joined Jashinsky on a Wednesday episode of her After Party podcast.
Jashinsky first pointed out that many Israeli citizens are “horrified” at their own government, “so much so” that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political party, Likud, “may lose the upcoming elections,” which will take place Oct. 27.
“How do you think that change would affect the American relationship with Israel, how would it change the situation in Gaza, how would it change your own outlook if Netanyahu is no longer at the helm of the government?” she asked.
“I think he’s hurt the world,” Carlson responded. “I think he’s gravely hurt Israel. After all of this, I’ve never been against the nation of Israel. I’ve certainly been a frequent visitor there and a lover of the country and of a lot of the people. I know people there.”
He continued:
I’m never rooting for anyone’s destruction or suffering ever, and the day I start doing that is the day I retire and examine my own soul. So no, I want Israel to be okay, but they’re gonna have to repent for what they did in the same way that the Nazis had to repent for what they did, you know?
And a lot of oppressive governments that have committed genocide through history have had to have a moment where it’s like, “What we did was wrong, and the people who did it are gonna have to be punished.” There’s no getting around it, you know? If you kill or wound a quarter million unarmed people, which is what they did, the majority of them non-combatants — women, children, the elderly — you murder tens of thousands of kids, you can’t just say, “Well, we elected a new prime minister, and everything’s forgotten,” because it’s not forgotten.
