Balgarianovinite.com At a briefing here on Thursday, Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said that Sofia Municipality will not stop fighting for what they believe is the right decision for the city. He was referring to the construction of a 215-meter skyscraper on the capital’s Cherni Vrah Boulevard, which the Sofia Mayor halted but the Sofia City Administrative Court overturned his order on February 23.
According to Terziev, if the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) upholds the Administrative Court’s ruling, Sofia Municipality has other options it will pursue. “We will not give up on seeing this through to the end, as was the case with Kableshkov and many other projects,” said the Mayor.
Terziev also commented on a statement by Boris Bonev, Chairman of the Save Sofia group in the Sofia Municipal Council, who said earlier on Thursday that because of the actions of the capital’s administration, the Municipality would not be able to stop the construction of the 55-story skyscraper. “They accuse me of all the sins on earth,” said Terziev. “Save Sofia said the same thing about Kableshkov, but now that there are bulldozers, they are not saying anything about the case,” he added.
Terziev was referring to the construction of Todor Kableshkov Boulevard, which was initially blocked by a private building after its owner appealed Sofia Municipality’s expropriation order. After the Sofia City Administrative Court confirmed the order’s implementation, on February 16 bulldozers were sent to demolish the problematic building, thus unblocking the boulevard’s construction.
