Independence requires institutions that serve citizens and a justice system that delivers fairness, Yes, Bulgaria Co-Chair and Democratic Bulgaria MP Ivaylo Mirchev wrote Wednesday on his official Facebook page on the occasion of Independence Day.
On September 22, 1908, Bulgaria declared its independence in Veliko Tarnovo and rejected its vassal dependence on the Ottoman Empire, Mirchev wrote.
“Following the Liberation and the Unification, the country took the next decisive step towards a full-fledged place among the European states. It achieved this through political will, courage and diplomacy. Today, we bear the responsibility of defending what was achieved,” Mirchev said in his post.
“In a united Europe, we can take part in decisions concerning our common future. Our task is to do so with a clear sense of direction and dignity,” Mirchev said.
“We owe this to our forefathers, who built modern Bulgaria, and to the children who will inherit it,” he wrote.
