On October 25, people will decide what kind of Bulgaria they want, presidential candidate Andrey Gurov said at a meeting with citizens in Gabrovo on Friday.
He said he would always identify problems and their cost, work for an independent and secure Bulgaria, serve as president of all citizens and provide transparent reports on his work. Gurov stressed that the presidential institution could not do everything.
The president cannot dig tunnels or repair roads, but can identify where the problems are, listen to citizens and focus the attention of institutions on them, Gurov said. He added that a president must listen to the concerns of Bulgarian citizens in order to ensure that attention is focused on the right issues.
Gurov said he believed that his decision to return to Bulgaria had been the best choice for his children. He added that majorities often change and that this was precisely where the role of the presidency lay: identifying priorities and ensuring that work was focused on them.
According to Gurov, none of the problems being discussed were easy to resolve. They involved complex systems that required substantial work and cooperation among different institutions to find the right solution, followed by a clear direction and consistency. He said the problems could be resolved through clear positions and a clear course of action.
Automobile racer Dimitar Iliev, who served as Minister of Youth and Sports in the caretaker government headed by Prime Minister Andrey Gurov, also took part in the meeting with citizens.
